What Are Oral Appliances?

An oral appliance is a device custom made to fit an individual's mouth. There are a variety of ways that the oral appliance can help people. It is an effective tool against bruxism and teeth grinding. It can also prevent one of the reasons that people suffer from sleep apnea.

How they Help
The oral appliance can help position the jaw, tongue and mouth in a way that prevents the muscles from relaxing and blocking the airway. This is the most common form of sleep apnea and is known as obstructive sleep apnea. The oral appliance can also prevent the tongue from moving and blocking the airway. It can put the jaw into a position that keeps the airway open.
